Shine at the Bluecoat is a mission to find some of the most creative and talented young people in Merseyside. Once we’ve found you we’ll help you to become even better at what you’re already good at!

So whether you’re great at drawing, brilliant at making up stories or you throw some boss shapes on the dance floor this is for YOU!

Finding Your Talent
To find you, we’ll be running a competition each term for young people aged 11-16 from schools in the Find Your Talent pathfinder areas in Kirkby, St Helens and North Liverpool. A professional artist, writer, dancer or designer will visit your school a few times to help you find your talent with some useful hints and tips. Then you can enter the competition through your school. All of the entries will be judged by a panel from the Bluecoat and at least one pupil from each school will be selected.

Helping You Shine
The winners will be invited to a weekend masterclass at the Bluecoat. These weekends will include meeting some world class artists and give you an amazing opportunity to build on your existing skills. We also hope you’ll make some new friends who share your interests and talents.

Showing Your Talents
After every masterclass there will be a chance to show off your new skills to others. This might be an exhibition of your drawings, a chance to perform or the publishing of your short story. The Bluecoat is a major international arts venue in Liverpool City Centre and your talents will be on show as part of our programme.
